Rich in history, Poplar Lodge oozes charisma as its stirs nostalgic notions and is an absolute must when you are spending a romantic night or weekend in the mountains. Reputed to have supplemented its food and lodging income by offering untoward services in its early days, the Lodge with its unmatched atmosphere and awesome location dates back to the roaring twenties.

The stunning, clubby decor is highlighted by impressive dark logs contrasted with creamy off-white chinking and rarely-seen antiques and memorabilia. The ambiance is truly magical. Tables around a warm, cozy fireplace or the picturesque terrace overlooking a spectacular mountain range are perfect places to enjoy a delicious steak, toast your good fortune, celebrate the moment or to simply snuggle. Allowing your imagination to meander, you might spot Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, F. Scott Fitzgerald or Jack Dempsey, the famed boxer, who once trained here, sitting around the bar.

Beef, carefully aged, processed and cut in house is the specialty, but grilled fish, baby back ribs or marinated chicken breast are excellent choices as well.

Poplar Lodge is NOT about fine dining, exotic sounding foods or exorbitant prices. Service, while superb, is not stuffy. This is the definitive, romantic, mountain hideaway serving excellent food, wines and mixed beverages. This is what a mountain lodge is all about!

Burt Reynolds loved the Lodge. Many of the cast and crew of the movie Heavyweights, filmed nearby, ate here often. Did Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey really dine and snuggle here in 1989 while filming the movie Dirty Dancing? Rumors and realities swirl about the Lodge and its past.
